This Week’s Quotation:
Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.
~ Mother Teresa
Little Things Mean a Lot
Probably very few reading this would consider something they are doing today to be a “great thing” by the usual human definition. Mother Teresa, a Catholic nun, tirelessly helping the poor and sick in Calcutta, India, did very few “great things.” But she gained notoriety and Sainthood by doing many small things with great love.
We have a similar opportunity with all the small things we do every day. It can start the moment you get up in the morning by making your bed and putting your bedroom in order, all with an attitude of thanksgiving and bringing order to your world. This sends a positive influence of blessing and order to the larger world you center. Pretty great, eh?
And similarly, with everything you do during the day: preparing breakfast, brushing your teeth, taking a shower, driving to work, greeting work associates, handling emails, a coffee break, physical exercise. Whatever is done is filled with love and thanksgiving, and this sends a powerful radiant current of love to everyone in the world engaged in similar activities, inviting them to do the same.
All these “small things” turn into great things when done with love. No matter our station in life or the role we’re playing, this is our pathway to world service. It is spiritual expression of the highest order. So, while it may not qualify us for formal, religious Sainthood, we become saints in the larger regenerative process that is transforming the world.
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world’s sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.

Thank you, Jerry and Teri, for two amazing flowers and two uplifting smiles. Whether what we do are considered “great things” or not by those who experience them, may we — in step with Mother Teresa’s spirit — do them with GREAT LOVE. WITH YOU. Tom
