This Week's Quotation:
See that I am God. See that I am in everything. See that I do everything. See that I have never stopped ordering my works, nor ever shall, eternally. See that I lead everything on to the conclusion I ordained for it before time began by the same power, wisdom, and love with which I made it. How can anything be amiss?
~ Julian of Norwich, Theologian, and author of The Revelations of Divine Love, 14th century
God Is in Everything
The existence of God—the unseen, inexplicable existence of our Source—is intrinsic to everything. Yet we tend to doubt this in certain situations. For example, how do we see God in the tragedies and severe suffering we experience or witness? That is a real challenge we all face.
I imagine you quickly recognize when your mind’s receptors have shifted from heaven to connect with limitation, judgment, and separation instead. When that happens to me, the practice I’ve found will restore attunement swiftly is focusing on my breath. I consciously experience each breath as holy and sacred—every inhale and exhale a miracle.
This practice shifts my perception. I remember how I perceive things determines how I experience them. Thoughts of judgment, limitation, and separation knock me out of attunement with the truth that God is in everything.
This ability to quickly recognize interference messing with our connection to Source is empowering. And if you’re like me, you can easily sense when an interruption occurs—it doesn’t feel good! All we need to do is immediately access the practices that support us in promptly restoring a solid connection.
In every circumstance, there is the potential to see the love, purity, and innocence inherent to all that exists. Additionally, every situation is pregnant with the possibility of evolving consciousness. And ultimately, that’s the experience we are all here for.
By consciously approaching all situations with a loving heart, we open ourselves to discovering God in all things. We allow creation in the fullness it is, filled with contrast and diversity, without separation.
I’m all in with that! How about you?
If so, let’s practice all that supports us in remaining tapped into and turned on by Divine Intelligence. Be Presence. Be a happy sun radiating Love without concern for results.
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world's sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.

Brilliant Terri. In my experience, conscious awareness MAKES the breath holy. It becomes the Holy Breath generally referred to as the Holy Spirit. As I consciously inhale I draw up Love from my deepest Being and then exhale that love into the world. I recently found a poem by the Sufi Kabir no doubt in’spired’ by God;-
Breathe my Love
Breathe my Love
Breathe my Love in the quiet Centre
That’s my entire religion right there.
As you write, Terri, “in every circumstance, there is the potential to see the love, purity, and innocence inherent to all that exists.” Good to remind myself of this as I observe the unspeakable atrocities and war crimes that are being committed against the people of Ukraine. God is indeed in everything!
Thank you Terri. What a clear description of the practicality of both the seen and unseen aspects of our Presence. The texture of Presence, the knowing of Presence for oneself, and seeing it in other people and all of Life is pure joy. Receiving this piece from you and sending a reply is just one example of the dance of Presence available in all that we are about. With much love and appreciation! Marilyn
I am in agreement with Michael, Jerry, and Marilyn…. which means I am in agreement with you too! Something which I find so striking and wonderful is how Julian, you, and these three are all in one voice despite the 700 years you four seem to be apart from Julian. the one voice is eternally of the sacred order which brings us all to the same higher place where all angels belong. thank you, terri, for providing that wonderful bridge. Love, Tom
