This Week’s Quotation:
Be still and know that I Am God.
Psalms 46:10
Be Still
Being still does not comes easily to me. Maybe you can relate. I suppose that’s because stillness creates a vacuum that the mind wants to fill.
In response to that, Buddhists teach that whatever arises in the mind is just what it is. They teach to be still, stay with it and witness it with neutral curiosity. That is, avoid the mind’s temptation to add anything extra, like judgments of good or bad or ugly or beautiful.
Over the years, I’ve enjoyed discovering that when I can be still and just lean into and allow life’s messiness, I discover the perfection in the seeming imperfections. Then I Am meets I Am God. Everything falls into perspective with I Am because the I Am is within everything.
I also find that I Am supports me to keep my heart open, even in the hell, the pain, and the grief. The I Am enables me to see that behind all duality is the One. Further, I see that the only thing that feeds suffering is my own mind.
So, when I feel lost, I now know that I Am God will find me if I can be still. I breathe. Relax. Allow. Let go. Being still to know the refuge and strength of I Am God. Then, feeling lost gives way to the joy of being home.
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world’s sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.

This so beautifully conveys the largeness and availability of the One I Am through each and every one of us. Just taking a moment to give thanks for this conscious reality in this moment, on this day. Thank you so much!
Thank you Terri – I find being in the I AM is sometimes easier than other times. It can be there just intellectually sometimes – a Truth I know….and then at other times it just offers itself to my consciousness as a gift.
Wow! So clear and beautiful! Thank you for tracing the conscious path to peace.
I also find that when I am feeling lost or experiencing “the hell, the pain and the grief,” a little laughter is useful to bring perspective and restore my centering in the truth of who I am. What is called “laughter yoga” can be a very beneficial practice.
Yes, Terri, Open Windows speak to my heart and soul. And being still, it seems to me, is a vital step into healthy living, beginning with a deep breath and conscious thankfulness.
Yes. In stillness all reveals itself. Yes, I AM GOD is known in stillness. Thanks so much, Terri. Love, Tom
