This Week's Quotation:
Be full of sorrow, that you may become a hill of joy; weep, that you may break into laughter. What hurts you, blesses you. Darkness is your candle. If everything around seems dark, look again, you may be the light.
~ Rumi
Heliotropic Devotion
Rumi provides a poetic invitation to embrace the totality of our human experience—to remember the unity inherent to the two sides of every coin. Additionally, he reminds us of the power of Being the Light.
Sunflowers know this. They’ve been among my great teachers. Sunflowers have heliotropic devotion to the sun and follow it with such beauty and grace.
What’s the first thing we do when our homes grow dark? We turn on a light. And when we go through rough times, others remind us that “there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.” Furthermore, we might refer to a mentor as our “guiding light.”
Each of us brings a unique light to shine in this world. We all have the opportunity to be guiding lights, dispelling the darkness born of ignorance, fear, and separation.
Evidence for the importance of remaining light-focused was provided in the May 16th release of the Journal of Earth Sciences. There is an article that outlines the interdependence of human emotions on the Earth's magnetic field—positive emotions increase the magnetic field while negative emotions have the opposite effect. Given that the Earth’s magnetic field has been depleting, this further exemplifies the importance of maintaining a heliotropic devotion.
As we maintain our orientation to Divine Light, our consciousness is saturated with that radiance. Then we shine like the sun we are and provide a beacon wherever needed. After all, Light never says I have lighted enough.
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world's sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.

Yes, here’s to heliotropic devotion! And, Terri, thanks for your own contribution to raising the potency of the magnetosphere. WITH YOU in that. I also notice above the wish that these mailings/postings be a blessing to the soul — yes, very much so. Loving blessings also to you and all who write these blogs and stand behind you/us. Love, Tom C.
Increasing the magnetic field of the Earth. How wonderful to have another reason for shining the Light that I AM. Thank you, Terri!
I´ve realized and agree that we each have a mission ´to dispel the darkness born of ignorance, fear, and separation¨ as you put it, Terri. Our lights combined is the divine light that keeps the world going. Thanks for sharing as we stand with you!
