This Week's Quotation:
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.
~ Dalia Lama
Laughter is Good Medicine
If you have been feeling laughter-deprived of late, my wish is that the Dalai Lama’s words have roused a chuckle. A giggle here, a chuckle there—it’s all good medicine that releases happy hormones into the human bloodstream.
I’ve found that when I’m feeling I’ve lost my mojo and need to snap out of it, a few deep belly laughs are like an instant vacation. While life doesn’t cease to be serious when we laugh, it does relieve the heaviness for timeless moments.
Laughter is a welcome remedy for edgy times. There is divinity in all things and uncovering the divine requires working with the material at hand. Since we live in a dualistic world, we can see both the darkness and the light, and we have the freedom to choose where to put our attention.
When the behavior of others confounds us, let’s give our best to discard preconceptions and respond to others as people of dignity, challenged as we all are by living with a human ego. Might we maintain awareness that whatever our challenges are, we can laugh at them because we are forever, and they are temporary?
We all make a difference! And when our patience and composure are tested, may we have a sense of humor that brings ease to the intensity and supports us in keeping our shine on. I do not doubt that love will go viral as we each dispense the treasures of our uniquely wonder-full being with smiles and laughter (since both are contagious, you know).
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world's sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.

Laughter is most definitely the Best Medicine!!!!!
World news lately has been so bad, particularly relating to Ukraine, that laughter has been hard to come by. But I found a quote spoken on National Public Radio that struck me as amusing and gave me a laugh: “Things are never so bad that they can’t get worse.”
